James William Holt

On January 10, 2015, the Defense POW/MIA Accounting Agency (DPAA) identified the remains of Master Sergeant James William Holt, missing from the Vietnam War.   Master Sergeant Holt entered the U.S. Army from Arkansas and was a member of Detachment A-101, Company C, 5th Special Forces Group. On February 7, 1968, he was killed in action while defending the American-operated Lang Vei Special Forces camps in Quang Tri Province, South Vietnam, against enemy attack. His remains were not recovered at the time. In 1995, a joint search team recovered human remains at the site of the Lang Vei Special Forces Camp, and in 2015, U.S. analysts identified MSG Holt from these remains. Master Sergeant Holt is memorialized on the Courts of the Missing at the National Memorial Cemetery of the Pacific. His name is also inscribed along with all his fallen comrades on the Vietnam Veterans Memorial Wall in Washington, DC.
