Anderson was Born on August 28, 1944, in
Bauxite, AR, and he was Commissioned a Second Lieutenant in the United States
Army Infantry on 12 August 1966, where he then proceeded to Airborne School. In
July 1967 he was assigned to A Co. 2/502
Battalion, 1st Brigade, 101st Airborne Division for his first tour of duty in
Vietnam, where he had earned a Silver Star. Sometime after the completion of
his first tour in in July of 1968, he attended Rotary Wing Aviator School,
where he became a helicopter pilot. In May 1971, he returned to Vietnam for his
second tour as a Cobra Platoon Leader with C Troop 3/17th Air Cav. During his
time in the Army Mr. Anderson received many awards and medals to include: the
Silver Star, the Legion of Merit, the Bronze Star with 1 Oak Leaf Cluster and
"V” Device, Purple Heart with 1 Oak Leaf Cluster, Meritorious Service Medal
with 1 Oak Leaf Cluster, Air Medal with 1 Oak Leaf Cluster, Army Commendation
Medal with "V” Device, Army Commendation Medal with 2 Oak Leaf Clusters, and
many other Service, Campaign Medals, and Badges. Mr. Anderson Retired as a
Lieutenant Colonel on the 31st of August 1988. Since his retirement
from the Army, Mr. Anderson Served as an EMS Helicopter Pilot at Vanderbilt
Life Flight from 1989 to 2007. In February of 2007 he Joined the CIA and
conducted 36 trips of 60 days each in Afghanistan and 4 trips of 60 days each
in Iraq. Flying MI-17 helicopters on tactical night operations using Night
Vision Goggles. Mr. Anderson’s Civilian Education includes a Bachelor of
Science in Education from Henderson State University and a Master of Science in
Systems Management from University of Southern California.
