Colonel Anita Elizabeth Walker from Conway, U.S. Army, has
been honored with numerous awards including the Legion of Merit, the
Meritorious Service Medal with one oak leaf cluster, the Army Commendation
Medal with one oak leaf cluster, the Army Achievement Medal with one oak leaf
cluster, the Army Reserve Component Achievement Medal with two oak leaf
clusters, the Arkansas National Guard Distinguished Service Medal, the Arkansas
National Guard Exceptional Service Medal, and the Arkansas National Guard Commendation
Medal with one oak leaf cluster.
Colonel Walker is a native of Mayflower, AR, and graduated
high school in 1978. Her first employment was with the typing pool at Camp
Robinson in 1980. By age 19, with two years of experience working around
military personnel, Colonel Walker decided to enlist in the Arkansas Army
National Guard.
Her military career began as an enlisted member of the
Arkansas Army and Air National Guard, progressing to Officer Candidate School.
Following her commission as Second Lieutenant, she held various assignments
such as Platoon Leader, Detachment Commander, Company Executive Officer,
Company Commander, and numerous traditional command and staff positions.
Colonel Walker's highest command position was Battalion Commander of the 875th
Troop Command.
Colonel Walker was promoted to the rank of Colonel during
her last duty assignment as Human Resources Officer for the Arkansas Army
National Guard. She retired in 2013 with 33 years of rewarding military
service. Currently, she works with Senator John Boozman as his Military and
Veterans Liaison Officer, traveling across the state to visit veterans and
their families, assisting them in connecting with the Department of Veterans
Affairs resources and assistance.
