Major
General Anslow was born on 16 February 1967 in Troy, New York. She was a
trailblazer for women throughout her military career, often
accomplishing many firsts. In 1989, she was commissioned a 2nd Lieutenant
in the US Army Corps of Engineers upon graduating from the US Military Academy at West Point, the 10th class graduating women. Among the first 800 women to
graduate in history. First individual in her class from West Point to be
promoted to General Officer and was the first female promoted to general officer in the
Arkansas Army National Guard. In 1993, MG Anslow transitioned to the Arkansas
Army National Guard (ARARNG) and began her diverse military and civilian
engineer career paths serving 29 years as a citizen Soldier, with the US Army Corps of Engineers, in the male dominated engineer career field. Highlighting her career was commanding
and deploying the 875th Engineer (Corps) (Mechanized) Battalion during
Operation Iraqi Freedom (06-08). The Battalion transitioned to a route
clearance mission and integrated multi-state national guard, reserve and active
duties subordinate units into the command. The Battalion provided Corps level route
clearance and served as the only Engineer Battalion to the 3rd Infantry
Division during the Surge Operations in 2007. The Battalion build patrol bases and
cleared over 1500 IEDs saving thousands of lives. The unit also advanced many
IED defeat techniques and procedures.
